nov150702The Wicked + The Divine Volume 3

The title may have been Commercial Suicide, but Volume 3 of this Image series was the strongest yet. Consisting of one and done stories focused on various member of the Pantheon, Kieron Gillen revealed new layers to the gods’ personalities, while a string of guest artists turned in visually stunning pages. The powerful Tara tale (one of my two picks for best single issue of the year) is alone worth the price of admission. Wicked + Divine appeared on a slew of Best Of lists this past December. This trade offers ample evidence why those laurels were so well earned

While not being anywhere close to Alan Moore’s best work since Watchmen like those idiots at Heavy Metal seem to believe, it is certainly one of the better written comics from Alan Moore in quite some time. Providence is a chilling psychological horror and true to form, Moore spares no detail in his writing.

AUG150896Superior Foes Of Spiderman Omnibus

Writer Nick Spencer took what everyone assumed would be a disposable Superior Spider-Man tie-in and turned it into one of the Marvel most fun series. Blending humor with strong character work, the series was a delight. Will Boomerang ever stop digging himself deeper into trouble? Will Beetle get her life in order? Will The Punisher buy a cronut? Read on True Believer, read on and find out

The pride comes before the fall quite literally in this series

Somehow this fantastic 70’s spy thriller seems to get lost in the shuffle whenever best ongoings are discussed. Maybe we’ve all taken its greatness for granted, I don’t know, but Ed Brubaker, Steve Epting, and Bettie Breitweiser have been crafting one terrific comic. Amazing art and a gripping adventure full of smokey rooms, duplicitous people, and badass 70’s cars; you need to be reading this comic

Our #7 most anticipated comic of the year is here. The newest story out of the fantastic 8House umbrella, penned by the ridiculously talented Emma Rios with art by Hwei Lim. The solicit states all you need to know, “A new ongoing series following a terrorist talking dog, a idealist mage, and a heroic lab rat on their quest for acceptance.” Count me in!

As I’m sure you all have noticed, the pull list page is no longer present. We here at Nothing But Comics have decided to combine this weekly with the discussion of which comics we are all buying for the week. Included below is the link of our personal favorite product guide. Don’t worry, this is not an advertisement; the website is not paying us anything to push it (not that we’d object!). Comic List just happens to be totally awesome. So check out that massive list and then come on back here to let us know what you are buying.
