Indubitable Issues and Pull List (11/08/17)

Josh’s Recommendations…
Fence #1
“Its often said that ‘there’s a manga about everything.’ To the best of my knowledge, there isn’t one about fencing! While this is more or less an American comic, it sounds like it has the sensibilities that people desire in Manga: plotting, characterization, the constant struggle of the protagonist and his gradual evolution. This sounds like a slam-dunk, involving the classical sport of fencing. Color me intrigued.””

Ash vs Army of Darkness #5
“Ash Williams was brought out of semi-retirement to fight Deadites at his former high school, disguised as an auto shop teacher. It went as well as you can expect for him, but it went spectacularly for us readers. Here is the epic conclusion, and something perfect for those still craving post-Halloween thrills and chills.”
Tyler’s Recommendation…
Doctor Strange #381
“Loki as the new sorcerer supreme is all I needed to hear, but then they add Gabriel Hernandez-Walta on art. I’m so hyped for this!”
Dean’s Recommendation…
Punisher #218
“Frank Castle: War Machine! Written by Matthew Rosenberg. I have to check this out.”
As we’re sure you all have noticed, the pull list page is no longer present. We here at Nothing But Comics have decided to combine this weekly with the discussion of which comics we are all buying for the week. Included below is the link of our personal favorite product guide. Don’t worry, this is not an advertisement; the website is not paying us anything to push it (not that we’d object!). Comic List just happens to be totally awesome. So check out that massive list and then come on back here to let us know what you are buying.

Right when I catch up on reading I get a light week. Figures.

  2. Matt Rosenberg has been put on a bunch Marvel books I see, well deserved. The back of “4 Kids Walk into a Bank” the graphic novel is splashed with endorsements from the biggest names in comics. I’ve never seen so much A list praise on the back of one book.

  3. I may pick up that Fencing book. I actually took a fencing class in college… cause I was an athletic nerd? I suppose I was mediocre although at the time I’m sure I thought I was good. I think reach matters and technique trumps athleticism. The deal breaker for me were those sweaty helmets. I also took a Karate class with a friend that same year… my friend is now a black belt video game designer and me?… I learned how to get thrown by women half my size. Seriously I’ve logged at least 50 360 degree flip over feet in the air throws since then. I’m an expert at being flipped over by 90 pound women. Nobody does it better. It takes grace.

  4. In light of the news that the awesome James Franco may be playing “the multiple man”… I felt like plugging the great 2005-2014 X-factor series. The mutant detective agency was great. In its first few years I thought the only Marvel book that compared was Hickman’s fantastic four. It had a family feel to it similar to ff and f4.
