On the Horror Genre

The horror genre has long been a major part of my life.  Long before other mediums, film and television were my gateway into the land of horror.  While my friends shielded their eyes from the likes of Michael Meyers, Linda Blair’s portrayal of Regan, Mr. Barlow, and Pennywise the Clown, I was positioned in front of the television watching these horrors come to life before me.  My mother likes to tell people–in fact, she just told this to my fiancé two days ago that The Leprechaun was one of my favorite movies growing up, and I would watch it over and over again.

Happy happy Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, happy happy Halloween, Silver Shamrock! Have you got your costumes ready yet? For the last few years I’ve been extremely lazy when it comes to dressing up – I just bought a Dracula cape and when the sun goes down on October 31st I throw it on over my cardigan sweater and skinny jeans and Wha-La! Instant Hipster Vampire! No messy make up to deal with afterwards, nothing to impair my vision or trip on, it’s the perfect solution. Okay, okay I suck at dressing up. I can’t pretend anymore. I’ve been living a lie and need to change my ways. Man, I really feel better talking to you about this and confronting my problems head on instead of hiding from them – I realize now its the first step to recovery. The only thing missing now are some bullet points to make my life even sweeter! Oh look! There they are!!!
